We mounted the fresh tires on the FI-R wheels before balancing the assemblies. The tire label below records the size and specification pictured during this visit.
BBS FI-R Wheel Balancing and Refitting
With the tires fitted, we balanced the assemblies before refitting the BBS wheels to the GT4. The finished car retains its OEM+ look: silver FI-R spokes, yellow brake calipers and the factory GT4 silhouette.

Can Michelin Cup 2 tires be fitted to aftermarket wheels on a 718 GT4?
Yes, when the tire size is compatible with the wheel and the car’s fitment requirements. On this GT4, we fitted Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires to the customer’s existing Manthey-spec BBS FI-R wheels. That combination does not establish fitment for every aftermarket wheel.
What wheel and tire specifications should I confirm before ordering?
Confirm front and rear wheel diameters, widths and offsets; tire sizes, load ratings and speed ratings; and any spacers or suspension changes. Check the tire manufacturer’s approved rim-width range for the exact tire size. The table records one pictured tire; confirm the complete front-and-rear combination separately.
Is wheel balancing the same as a Porsche wheel alignment?
No. Balancing addresses imbalance in the wheel-and-tire assembly; alignment adjusts wheel angles such as camber and toe. The work shown here is tire fitting and balancing.
Are Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 and Cup 2 R the same tire?
No. Michelin lists Pilot Sport Cup 2 and Pilot Sport Cup 2 R as separate models. The Cup 2 R is the more track-focused option, optimized for dry-track use. This GT4 visit used Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
